Andrew Jackson was president of the United States, 1829-1837. During the Creek War, 1813-1814, Jackson led an army of Tennessee volunteers to Alabama, where he defeated Creek Indians in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. John Cocke was an officer under Jackson in the Creek War. He later served as a United States representative from Tennessee, 1818-1827.
